Graduate Program in Comparative Literature
Information on the department's graduate program in Comparative Literature.

Tri-Campus Graduate Program in Classics
Faculty in the department also participate in this graduate program sponsored jointly by UC Riverside, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego.

How to Apply
We encourage you to complete the Preliminary Information Form. The Preliminary Information goes only to the Comparative Literature and Foreign Languages Department and allows us to consider your interests and qualifications before we receive the official Graduate Division application (which usually takes longer to complete). Official application must apply online to the Graduate Division. Click here to submit your official application.

To receive fullest consideration for financial assistance, your completed application and all supporting documents, including GRE scores, must be received by December 10, 2006. We will accept applications until February 1, 2007 for international students and March 15, 2007 for domestic students, but please keep in mind that completed files received after December 10, 2006 are unlikely to receive consideration for most forms of financial support.

Graduate Support
The Department offers support in the form of teaching assistantships to qualified graduate students. TA duties involve supervised instruction of lower-division language courses and assisting in courses in civilization and literature in translation; the stipend is approximately $12,500 per year. Out of state students may apply for non-resident tuition fee fellowships covering all or part of the non-resident tuition fee. Fellowships are also available, ranging from the prestigious Chancellor's Distinguished Fellowship ($10,000 plus fees) through Humanities Predoctoral Fellowships, Dean's Fellowships, the Department's Baricelli Award for advanced dissertation work, and others.

Jean-Pierre Barricelli Memorial Grant
The department offers this grant for advanced graduate students working in interliterary or inter-arts studies in any department at UCR.
